Officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are shutting down an area in Cache Valley to camping, and they say it’s because people were trashing it.

Why don’t we get the Scouts or some other community groups to come help clean these areas up? Whenever we travel, we bring trash bags and tote out way more than we brought in!
Look at all the trash along the freeways & you don’t see them being shut down. Once you close down one spot that will force them elsewhere & then that spot will get shut down. Are canyons are being crowded anyways & need better solutions. I could tell them what they could do but that’s their job to figure it out. If they don’t know how then check out what other States have done but still have free camping. Signs are not going to stop people from camping there & I’ve seen it all the time with another canyon just North of there. There’s signs posted Day use only & people will still camp right in front of those signs. They think it means you can’t camp behind the fence & signs but it means that whole area, signs needs to be more pacific that makes sence for eyeryone. I’ve even seen day use areas abused & there needs to be a better salution. I still remember Woodsy Owl & Smokey Bear. They even came to my school when I was a kid & made a huge impact on me to protect are mountains.
