Australia's Lost Gold – The Search for Sunken Treasure | Free Documentary History

Much of the west coast of Australia was discovered by accident, when Dutch treasure galleons ploughed into its fringing coral reefs and left chests of gold and silver on the coral floor. Ben Cropp has discovered hundreds of shipwrecks, including the famous Pandora of Bounty fame but there are thousands more still hidden in a watery grave. For example it’s believed the Japanese pirate Yamada Nagamasa buried his enormous loot on Magnetic Island. It is rumored to be worth $100 million, and has never been found. Ben finds a strange symbol carved in a prominent rock on Magnetic Island, opposite the only bay a ship could safely anchor in. Is this symbol the proverbial ‘x’ marking the spot? So what became of all the gold and silver that fate often cruelly snatched from its rightful owners? Some was recovered, some lost forever, but much still remains for the intrepid treasure hunter who is prepared to research the facts, sift through the legends, and give it a try. Ben’s film will take us around Australia to where these sunken treasures lie

@ 15: when he drinks the 150 year old pirate rum i was like no way did that guy just cork swish, swallow, and choke on artifact booze.
I know exactly where it is and will tell you if you send me 10 percent in advance. I just don’t feel like going and getting it myself is all.
As a now certified open water diver, also with a spinal cord injury. It’s the only therapy that will heal me.
I wish when I was at University I took the 1st course I was accepted into….Restoration of Antique’s.
If I only knew 14 years later I’d be a certified diver."I would be right there with you! Love it. Can never dive as much as I’d like.
Keep seeking, you will find. 😁💯☀️❤️♠️🙏🏽💦
Who know what’s on the bottom of oceans these days especially not explored.
Waste of time founds some coins not allowed to keep any treasure
To date this Ben Cropp was 80 in 2020
*This man is so interesting, I hope he did/does many more of these documentaries!* (Love the dog!)
Why don’t they use a metal detector, a helicopter,, and geophysics?
Can anyone make a documentary where they really find "Lost Gold" and not just soggy conjecture…..
Thanks for the movie! Come and shoot a unique place on earth, abandoned after a nuclear disaster.
Why on Earth wouldn’t they bring metal detectors!? Searching for Gold that may be just under the sand will never be found by eye.
y’all need an excalibur detector
I definitely wouldn’t be putting that stuff back what you supposed to put it back and let it rot in the ocean hell no it’s going home with me
Gold would be found if they had a metal detector!
Only an Australian would drink spirits they found in a shipwreck.
Plenty at first assumed Australia did not have much and or anything to value
I’ve been enthralled by Ben Cropp’s adventures every since the 70s when I was a boy. Enjoying the nostalgia and new discoveries!
I have two silver Spanish coins from 1741 in my collection. 8 reales or pieces of eight to be more exact.
Lol you just drank petrol
This man reminds me of TinTin and his little dog. Those cave art finds were amazing to see
There’s also the story of the aboriginal boy that found treasure and was to scared to tell everyone about what he had found. So he got a paint tin 5 litre size as the story is told and he had gold coins or nuggets inside but he had hidden it before telling his story to elders to see if he had gone on to cursed ground or sacred ground that was forbidden but he was asked to go get the paint tin and bring it back. He had forgotten were it was hidden and to this day the paint tin and were all the treasure is were he got the pieces are on protected aboriginal land or state land/forestry Stradbroke island some were.
That design you got off the rock is like the nights Templar and I seen it on the show or OAK ISLAND and they visit a church and then given access to the rooms underneath the church and that’s were the drawings are on the walls and all their designs.
L
still waiting for a reply on that wreck in the torres islands i emailed you about mr cropp
So your telling me if you ran across a pile of gold coins on the bottom, your gonna leave them? Riiiight.
No,, the Dutch were not the first. It was the Portuguese.
If the bullets are lead they should be recovered
It’s a shame the government didn’t send a marine archaeologist alone with adequate resources so that those artifacts could have been properly catalogued and preserved for display in a museum, and yes I am aware that even today in 2021 marine archaeologists are far too often as scarce as hens teeth so to speak!!!
Teapot is a valuable work of art in my book.with the coral growth…not super old but a super talking piece in display or prominent shelf…
You call that a knife …..
That was piss in the bottle lol
I would love to go on a dive/hunt with this guy… this is awesome.
I love that catermeran Australians know how to deck stuff out same stuff as her in usa but every thing is functional and insudtrial built instead of style its about built heavy and practical
Interesting documentary, amazing and great video behind the wrecks was to HEAR the
I believe I know what that symbol means, n where the treasure might be
Why even bother the Australian government takes all your finds. In the UK they pay you market value for your finds.
If the divers helmet wasn’t saved.,,then that is an all time memory of epic proportions.
And why aren’t they using metal detectors
Goes to search for gold…..finds just a load of coins that they can’t keep and trash……but historic trash 🤣 a load of nothing really. Also why does this guy keep on tasting everything? 😂 great stories tho was a good watch.
P
Metaldetector
Bearing in mind when Ben Crop was doing this hew didn’t have the metal detecting technologies we take for granted these days hello from Australia
The consistent theme in these kind of programs where Gold is being searched for is that….. NO GOLD IS EVER FOUND!
Thanks.. stuff like this creates dreams,
If I ever find treasure no one will tell me what to do with it finders keepers the government does not own you or land there not the makers but they are joker’s
How do you walk through mangroves barefooted without slicing your feet up, are there no barnacles in Australia?
That wasn’t wine but gas, did you see the face he made and it ricked.
Do they really have to touch everything and ruin the wildlife growing there !!!!!😤
Metal detector…….??
Does anyone happen to know the names of the two ladies who are in this video the ones that are on the boat
so FAKE’
Totally fake and theatrical documentary.
