Argonaut Mine Disaster – Ephemera

Argonaut Mine Disaster – Ephemera

On August 27, 1922 a fire ensued in the Argonaut Mine that trapped 47 miners a mile underground. Over a span of 26 days the lives of everyone in Jackson, California would change forever. What effect does this 95 year old disaster still have on the community of Jackson today?

“I only agreed with them to civil… I don’t have to be!”
“Finally some good news, they’re sending free whisky!”

How do they predict that it would take 7 days to rescue them? How long did it take to get there?

Re Fessel…I read his son said , it wasn’t his body they recovered the next year. The body was way too big…is this still in question? and if so…can DNA answer the mystery?

I did a lot of research, and never came across people blaming a miner for a fire, never. These people are deplorable!!

I saw this and thought, I didn’t know there were coal mines in California and then, it’s not a coal mine. How could there be an uncontrolled fire in a non-coal mine, there is timbering, but no methane or coal dust.

They cannot blame him just because he was missing. How would he get out if there are other people above ground, they would see him.

That would be cool if there was an actual VIDEO
