The mine tailings have limonite, lots of iron, that’s what carries the gold. I knew sooner or later you’d hit pay dirt. So C’mon, let’s go.

  2. Desert Rose on November 21, 2022 at 8:44 pm

Hi Prospector Dean here..thx for posting! The mines in this wash/gulch were mined primarily for Tungsten, including the actual Boriana Mine.

  8. Brian Shersby on November 21, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Love to see the plant life in the desert. The cactus withe pink/red flowers is the beavertail cactus, or opuntia basilaris. The beautiful masses of yellow flowers are I think, brittlebush. The enormous saguaro that look as if it is hugging itself is probably a centenarian; according to the Saguaro National )ark Service, they can live 150 – 175 years. Thanks for the great video

  12. Sally Vedder on November 21, 2022 at 8:52 pm

Ahhhhhh…this sure takes me back! Grew up in Phoenix (before it was ruined)–lived at the "edge of the neighborhoods", of course town goes a LOT further out there now. High School in Wickenburg, early 60’s. I really miss the desert — looked a lot like this! Thanks for taking us along with ya!

  14. IDNHANTU2day on November 21, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Gotta stop showing us your home Russ. Easy to track where you live. Thank you for all the programming. As soon as March comes around, the little lady and I are going desert sight seeing. I found your show about a month ago and I am going to visit those "one room" museums I love very much.

  30. Dale Kundtz on November 21, 2022 at 9:13 pm

Love the beauty of the Arizona desert! I would imagine around the railroad tracks and underpass with the soft sand, you could get bogged down easy enough. Would snow tires help in the soft sand? Just wondering. Used to enjoy driving in my car with all terrain tires when I lived down around Tucson. Thanks Russ for showing us the fauna in the spring desert.

  31. Jane Zhang on November 21, 2022 at 9:14 pm

What a life style! Live in nature!

  32. Weekend RVing on November 21, 2022 at 9:14 pm

We never got to go to the Abandoned mines.

  33. 409novaman on November 21, 2022 at 9:15 pm

As a non Arizona person the state is so beautiful, but let me ask a serious question.
I think Arizona has almost every poisonous spider that exists in North America.
When you’re working in the garage with the door open, do you get spiders walking in?
Seems like you’d have to wear gloves all the time?

  34. Vicki Wooley on November 21, 2022 at 9:17 pm

  35. Dennis LaGrua on November 21, 2022 at 9:18 pm

What a great road trip. Thanks for sharing. We will be in Northern Arizona later this year and hope to enjoy some of this incredible scenery. An excellent way for a relaxing day out within natures best. I just hope the poster here keeps a good supply of water, gas, tools and a couple tires with him. We will be prepared when we head out to the desert.

  36. Mr T on November 21, 2022 at 9:18 pm

I feel you might be the “Mr Rodgers” of the dessert .

  37. Milly West on November 21, 2022 at 9:18 pm

  38. Donovan Dixson on November 21, 2022 at 9:20 pm

  39. J Burnett on November 21, 2022 at 9:21 pm

That was so much fun. The castus is a saguaro. I appreciate people who appreciate the desert and can see the beauty.

  40. Sally Vedder on November 21, 2022 at 9:24 pm

"Like the eagle, a good philosopher soars alone, not in flocks, like doves and theologians" – Galileo, and if he was alive today no doubt he would add in "or UTV and Harley riders"

  44. Eric Mattinen on November 21, 2022 at 9:29 pm

I don’t know if this mine was a mill site for the Boriana Mine Complex, but the main mine is about another 5 miles up that road. They primarily mined tungsten with some gold, silver, and copper coming out as well.

  45. Connie Chamberlain on November 21, 2022 at 9:35 pm

I love watching. All this your showing me,will never get to see.

  46. Robert Herzog on November 21, 2022 at 9:36 pm

That is the first and only shot I have seen of your casa Russ. It looks like a nice spread. What do you find with your detector. out in the boonies?

  47. William Breeden on November 21, 2022 at 9:37 pm

Hey RVer – just discovered your channel. Well done! Really enjoy the minimalist approach (no overpowering music, sound effects, etc.) Nice calm narrative. Very enjoyable. Feels like we are traveling with you.

  48. Under The Drone on November 21, 2022 at 9:38 pm

The mine in the distance beyond the abandoned mine shaft is active again. If you would have gone a few mile further you would have found a really cool and big abandoned mine.

  49. George Smith on November 21, 2022 at 9:39 pm

Enjoy your travels, do you live near Kingman?

  50. Connie Chamberlain on November 21, 2022 at 9:40 pm

Can’t say much for the drivers.
