ABANDONED GOLD MINES ~ near KINGMAN ARIZONA

ABANDONED GOLD MINES ~ near KINGMAN ARIZONA

1.23.2013. I decided to walk out to some mountains today and found several old abandoned gold mines from the past. I didn’t see any official claim markers or indications that the area was other than BLM (Bureau of Land Management). An old post at one gold mine had written on it, ‘Gold Lake Discovery 1/1/13’, which I’m not certain whether someone wrote that just a few weeks ago on New Year’s Day, or that it indicates an initial discovery in 1913.

This is high definition video footage for Youtube.

Lots of mining claims for sale on the internet now with the price of gold shooting up the last 7-8 years what some are doing is file a claim with the BLM at relatively cheap costs and reselling them on the internet. Many for sale for $1000-$5000 every gold rush comes a long a lot of fraud to get gullible people to spend money on these BLM claims. I would bet it was one of these guys who claimed that old mine. This winter I want to explore the Ora Bella mine back way to crown king.

Dude! You are right in my gold getting spot. You are just off of Shinarump Road on the backside of Golden Valley, about 2 or so miles from the Big Rig Doll House.

Mark that was 2013, not 1913. I have lived here in Golden Valley and Kingman for the lasted 30 years and I am a member of the Mohave Prospectors Association. That post would have been gone or well rotted in that many years. My family and I have been all over that land you were walking on.

Mark, the note on the post was written with a Sharpie. Most likely was put there this year. Were it written in 1913, it most likely would have been either painted (sloppily) or carved. The Miner is not the best place to research mining claims. County and BLM records are better. I have been to many of these old sites. Mining claims are usually marked by corner markers, rock piles or rough posts, and many have way more than four corners. MC (former editor of Kingman Daily Miner)

Be careful and take a friend Mark. I worked with the sister of that little girl who fell in an open shaft years ago. her friend died and she was there a couple days with the body before they found her.

Great stuff! My grandfather worked around there at the Gold Eagle Mine near Mineral Park around 1911-1913. The claim was owned by J.A. Nieset of Ohio
