Abandoned Copper Mine fading away in the California Mountains | The Afterthought Mine

The Afterthought Mine is an abandoned copper mine fading away in the Northern California Mountains. All that remains are the decaying structures that once made this mine the most prosperous copper mine of its time for Shasta County.
What an awesome abandoned place to explore! I love to see these old structures hanging on as mother nature tries reclaiming them. This mine sits on the mountainside in Ingot, California. It used to be a bustling town when the mine was in operation between 1875-1952. Its crazy how much history is hanging around these mountains!

I love this type of historical finds. Seeing the photos of the original structure you can see that this was actually a very large operation. Sad to see Mother Nature taking it over but at the same time it lends to the imagination of the struggles from a long gone era.

Another cool spot, Cody. California is loaded with them . Love that state so diverse , and so much too see. You got some great drone shots, but I wasn’t worried about you flying. I already knew how good you are at getting great aireal shots. I just like your new vloging style.
Enjoyed watching. Have a good Christmas and New year.

Another 100% production, Director! The history bit was awesome…I can’t believe you dug up those old images. The 3D log was awesome! To be frank, what a fantastic place to locate. Kudos! Enjoying start to finish, as usual. 😉

Kind of an eerie looking place here Cody. I wonder how many people actually fell off building or working on that structure.
It’s also amazing how well timber holds up when exposed to the elements like this. Glad you were able to find a spot to fly the drone and keep your pilots license current.
Take care mate and wishing you and all the family a very safe December as Santa will be on his way to your place very soon 🎄👍
