I got to visit Ano Nuevo SP a couple weekends ago. Lovely place (though hiking in sand is a bit tough). Got to see the big male elephant seals out on the beach and saw my first Steller sea lion on the little rock island where the lighthouse used to be! It’s a little rare for them to travel this far south, so that was a nice surprise.

You left out our CROWN JEWEL: Point Lobos near Carmel! The park boasts gorgeous hiking trails and diverse coastal scenery. It’s my favorite State Park! Thank you for this beautiful video! There are just a few parks I have yet to explore, but most of them I’ve visited and revisited. All of them are worth the trip!

You should include on your next video Santa Clarita Woodland State Park in the Santa Susana Mountains by LA. Bee and Rice canyons with its stands of Big cone douglas fir and oak trees is beautiful in places. I hiked there before it was a state park, but I live in Arizona now.

  40. Heather Smith on December 15, 2021 at 10:58 pm

  49. kelly Johnson on December 15, 2021 at 11:10 pm

Castle crags state park is pretty stunning snd in a great part of the state if the fires round only stop. Snd since you mentioned the redwoods Jedediah smith state park has many amazing hiking trails snd probably the most scenic drive on a gravel road you will ever see along howland hill drive. Morro bay state park is in morro bay so is there much more to say about that. Their weather is great year around snd the rock snd the beach snd all the yummy restaurants in the embarcadero make it worth the trip. Snd it’s near Montana de oro state park that has a great headlands trail that’s easy to navigate with a stroller. 😉 as bd when you are up in the Tahoe area check out Grover hot springs state park. I always try to make a point of going when I’m up there.
