Everyone knows about Zion National Park, Moab National Park, Arches National Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park. Southern Utah is one of the greatest regions of our beautiful country. There are so many National Parks in such a short distance from each other makes Southern Utah one of the favorite American Road Trip destinations.

To be completely transparent; the goal of this project is to provide you with some alternative travel ideas around the region, as National Parks will inevitably be very popular when US travel picks back up this summer. The team at Visit Utah came to me with the idea for this video; as they explained the dilemma of national parks being very crowded.

I had the opportunity to take a 5-day Utah Road Trip, starting in St George, Utah (after flying into Las Vegas and driving to St George). From St George, we began the road trip to discover as many hidden gems as possible.

From St George we went hiking to Yant Flat, a beautiful terrain in the Red Reef conservation area. From Yant Flat we drove to Sand Hollow State Park, a beautiful lake that is a great alternative to Lake Powell. Quail Creek is also a great waterfront spot.

You can go Kayaking, hiking, boating, fishing, and other great activities in the area. My favorite aspect of Sand Hollow State Park, was the UTV sunset tour from B.A.S.H. rentals right on the Sand Hollow State Park beach.

The following day we drove from St George to Cedar City to visit Cedar Breaks National Monument. Cedar Breaks is a great alternative to hiking Bryce Canyon National Park. Cedar Breaks National Monument is quieter and just as beautiful from above.

We ventured into downtown Cedar City to visit the Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA), which made for a great change of pace to all the outdoor activities and hiking.

From Cedar City, we drove north to Beaver, Utah where we visited The Creamery in Beaver before hiking in Fishlake National Forest. Honestly Fishlake National Forest might have been the most underrated spot of the entire trip. I never heard of Fishlake National Forest before this trip and I would highly recommend adding this place to your list.

Bullion Falls in Fishlake National Forest is incredible.

From Fishlake National Forest, we made the beautiful road trip drive up the i70 to Green River.

From Green River, we spent the day with a true Navajo and visited House on Fire; one of the most incredible ruins Iโ€™ve ever seen. Luis Williams of Ancient Wayves is a Native American who is from this land and now runs hiking and rafting tours in the region. It was hands down, the most interesting day of the trip.

The USA National Parks are amazing, but if you have the chance on your next Utah Road Trip, I highly recommend visiting these incredible hidden gems.

Gareth at 7:38 the ranger can teach you how to pronounce ZION properly. With your sharing videos to the world of our precious petroglyphs I wish you would also ask that they are respected & not be defaced, since theyโ€™re getting so exploited and the more people know about them the more theyโ€™re at risk.

Born and raised in Georgia. It is beautiful here. But Utah has Georgia beat in scenery.

Fantastic. VisitUtah killed the National Parks with their ad-campagne and now we are ready to kill the remaining great places. Good job you both did.
10 years ago clips showed the beauty of the landscape. Todays clips show the beauty for 1 minute and the remaining 10 minutes consist of advices how to check the park-entrance webcams for the length of the 4lane traffic jam (Zion and Arches) and to document how former natural wonders transformed to Disneylands within a few years. Thanks again to VisitUtah’s "The Big 5" ad-campagne which sure had it’s part on this transition. And now onward to fragile indian ruins and unprotected petroglyphs. With several petroglyphs destroyed just recently around Utah (including the great Birthing Scene) it’s really time to lead the masses to these last hidden gems.

Living here my whole life, I must admit it was fun to watch this video. Even if you did pronounce half of the names wrong (or at least not how we locals do ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). It’s disappointing to see these local secrets getting busier and busier, but tourism is still how people get their income, and they are defiantly public places! I appreciate your respect and excellent video quality.

It is funny you looked uncomfortable when you said "voluptuosness of modern art". Stay safe and enjoy.

What a great video! My husband and I followed your advice on several destinations for my leave. (Hubby is retired). Enjoyed our tour with Louis Williams from Ancient Wayves! Best tour guide ever! Really enjoyed House on Fire tour. Loved staying at Bluff Dwellings Resort and Spa! You were right the pizza is awesome! Bullion Falls was a beautiful hike. It was chilly this morning but leaves are changing too! Fall leaves and a water fall! We also did the Spectra Point trail at Cedar Breaks National Monument. Another hidden gem!!! Tomorrow we are going to Sand Hallow State park! We also hiked Great Basin (NV), Capital Reef National park, Arches and Canyonlands. But the hidden gems you gave us really made our trip! No crowds!!! We had the forest to ourselves!!! This itinerary was perfect for us since we are currently leaving in Las Vegas (active duty Army nurse) and did not want to fly anywhere because of COVID. Thank you so much for sharing this video!!
