Everyone knows about Zion National Park, Moab National Park, Arches National Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park. Southern Utah is one of the greatest regions of our beautiful country. There are so many National Parks in such a short distance from each other makes Southern Utah one of the favorite American Road Trip destinations.
To be completely transparent; the goal of this project is to provide you with some alternative travel ideas around the region, as National Parks will inevitably be very popular when US travel picks back up this summer. The team at Visit Utah came to me with the idea for this video; as they explained the dilemma of national parks being very crowded.
I had the opportunity to take a 5-day Utah Road Trip, starting in St George, Utah (after flying into Las Vegas and driving to St George). From St George, we began the road trip to discover as many hidden gems as possible.
From St George we went hiking to Yant Flat, a beautiful terrain in the Red Reef conservation area. From Yant Flat we drove to Sand Hollow State Park, a beautiful lake that is a great alternative to Lake Powell. Quail Creek is also a great waterfront spot.
You can go Kayaking, hiking, boating, fishing, and other great activities in the area. My favorite aspect of Sand Hollow State Park, was the UTV sunset tour from B.A.S.H. rentals right on the Sand Hollow State Park beach.
The following day we drove from St George to Cedar City to visit Cedar Breaks National Monument. Cedar Breaks is a great alternative to hiking Bryce Canyon National Park. Cedar Breaks National Monument is quieter and just as beautiful from above.
We ventured into downtown Cedar City to visit the Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA), which made for a great change of pace to all the outdoor activities and hiking.
From Cedar City, we drove north to Beaver, Utah where we visited The Creamery in Beaver before hiking in Fishlake National Forest. Honestly Fishlake National Forest might have been the most underrated spot of the entire trip. I never heard of Fishlake National Forest before this trip and I would highly recommend adding this place to your list.
Bullion Falls in Fishlake National Forest is incredible.
From Fishlake National Forest, we made the beautiful road trip drive up the i70 to Green River.
From Green River, we spent the day with a true Navajo and visited House on Fire; one of the most incredible ruins I’ve ever seen. Luis Williams of Ancient Wayves is a Native American who is from this land and now runs hiking and rafting tours in the region. It was hands down, the most interesting day of the trip.
The USA National Parks are amazing, but if you have the chance on your next Utah Road Trip, I highly recommend visiting these incredible hidden gems.

I know some of these places, but definitely saw some new great ones! How did you research it? so cool!
I cringed when he said Zi on.
I lived in SLC for 35 years. The majority of my vacations were spent in Utah, and usually at the same 3 or 4 places. Why? Because I loved those places, and it seemed to heal my soul every time I would visit. I have done the tourist stop thing at many places. Their are so many "nice" places to see and visit, but If you vacationed in Utah for 2 weeks EVERY YEAR for your adult life, I don’t think it would be possible to see them all. When I first started vacationing Utah, I would eat at the Mom and Pop Diners, and thank goodness I did, because most of them have vanished now. I retired to SE Asia now, but if I were still living there, I would take a trip ASAP to that La Veracruz restaurant in Green River, and the Creamery in Beaver City. Those 2 places look like Shangri la to me. Don’t get me wrong, SE Asia food is great, but the western food available here is KFC and Mcdonalds, and other fast food joints. Get off your phone, get off the computer, and get off the tv and travel baby. Of the top 10 memories of my life, they ALL include traveling.
It’s an interesting video. I saw it all at once.
great places !
Should go to skinwalker ranch
What a great video! My husband and I followed your advice on several destinations for my leave. (Hubby is retired). Enjoyed our tour with Louis Williams from Ancient Wayves! Best tour guide ever! Really enjoyed House on Fire tour. Loved staying at Bluff Dwellings Resort and Spa! You were right the pizza is awesome! Bullion Falls was a beautiful hike. It was chilly this morning but leaves are changing too! Fall leaves and a water fall! We also did the Spectra Point trail at Cedar Breaks National Monument. Another hidden gem!!! Tomorrow we are going to Sand Hallow State park! We also hiked Great Basin (NV), Capital Reef National park, Arches and Canyonlands. But the hidden gems you gave us really made our trip! No crowds!!! We had the forest to ourselves!!! This itinerary was perfect for us since we are currently leaving in Las Vegas (active duty Army nurse) and did not want to fly anywhere because of COVID. Thank you so much for sharing this video!!
thanks for this video. It’s good to know there more places to visit that is not crowded. Always wanted to explore Utah.
Loved this video. Going to Utah this week cant wait! Thanks for all the ideas!
Great video loved the drone shots and music! It’s crazy how this is only scratching the surface of what Utah has!
Great video! 👍
Good! I hope to visit this place soon 🙌🏻🙏🏻

Brian Head would’ve been a fabulous stop as well. You were quite close from Cedar Breaks NM.
Thank you so very much. Even though I live in Utah, there are so many untraveled destinations to see and I appreciate you exploring some of the hidden gems I have not had the chance to see yet. Your videos are so well done and entertaining. Looking forward to your next adventure! Thank you!
Hey Friends! Thank you so much for watching, and if you want more information about the places we hit on this adventure, check out the Google Map I made (first link in video description). Gareth at 7:38 the ranger can teach you how to pronounce ZION properly. With your sharing videos to the world of our precious petroglyphs I wish you would also ask that they are respected & not be defaced, since they’re getting so exploited and the more people know about them the more they’re at risk.
America is Canaan transliterated canyon. We have Moab # America is Egypt. We were all slaves. Still are sorry.
The Dog was like "I’m getting in on this"
Did that main chick at The Creamery laser print her eyebrows? Lmao
Weird watching at 517 first day of 23
Born and raised in Georgia. It is beautiful here. But Utah has Georgia beat in scenery.
Vegas is hiding Calvary mountain aka Golgotha in the El Dorado mountains. Where Cortez was actually going.
Kudos to whoever is editing your videos, Gareth. Those transitions are getting better and more seamless. God job, Gareth, Daniel. and company!
No such thing as local secrets anymore.
Yeah Brah! Good to see you traveling! Keep at it hommie! Great video. And I love bloopers or whatever they’re called at the end. That I’ve cream sounded yum yum yum. And that waterfall looked invigorating to the 10th power. Stay fresh brah! 🙂 👍
You forgot Snow Canyon.
This was an Awesome video great job 😍👍
OMG. That is beautiful PEACE on earth.
Living here my whole life, I must admit it was fun to watch this video. Even if you did pronounce half of the names wrong (or at least not how we locals do 😉 ). It’s disappointing to see these local secrets getting busier and busier, but tourism is still how people get their income, and they are defiantly public places! I appreciate your respect and excellent video quality.
What a great job with this video!!! I love Utah! It’s like a little box full of surprises!
"inhibited by people for over 12,000 years", cancel culture continues to rule (~9 min. in)
I was just in Utah 3 weeks ago 😭
I bursted out laughing when he was explaining the painting because I could tell he wanted to laugh 😂
Also that blooper at the end was gold, beautiful water fall though 🤣
Thanks from South Korea 😎
Great video, can’t wait to visit some of those places in October!!!
Wow, that’s awesome and very informing! I want to make my first trip o9ut to Utah in the late summer or early fall! I can definitely appreciate the Navajo experience but i think i would opt for Yant Flat or Ceder Breaks In Dixie!
Local here… I LOVE MY STATE😭❤ Glad you and your friend got to see some hidden gems😊😊👍🏼👍🏼 Your videos are AWESOME. This is my 4th one so far. And YES I’ve subscribed🤘🏼🤘🏼 Keep up the good work brother!!

Objectifying women even in a painting….tiring to see. It’s just not humorous seeing this as a woman.
