World's biggest mine: Inside US coal

World's biggest mine: Inside US coal

Barack Obama’s pledge to cut carbon emissions has not stopped North Antelope Rochelle mine in Wyoming. In fact, production is booming – and climate change is off the agenda. The Guardian’s Suzanne Goldenberg gets a rare look inside the biggest coal mine in the world.

How do you calculate CO2 emissions from coal?
Carbon dioxide emissions per ton of coal were determined by multiplying heat content times the carbon coefficient times the fraction oxidized times the ratio of the molecular weight of carbon dioxide to that of carbon (44/12).

this was just a climate change pr stunt

Humanity never stood a chance. Time and time again the corrupt rise and the people suffer for it. Money power and greed

  4. Ryan Robichaud on January 5, 2022 at 8:47 am

Why do they have Sachs commenting? He’s an economist not a climate expert…Maybe one of the most pretentious 5 min video clips I have even watched. Pure "elites" looking down on normal people for making a living and providing a product the world demands.

  5. Juliusz Kociński on January 5, 2022 at 8:49 am

Trying to be eco-friendly myself… This is just misleading, when I seek info about emission I get it, but I came here to see operation of a biggest coal mine… And there’s none of it :v

Don’t they have to mine rare earth minerals for all the EV batteries?

Global warming is a Boogeyman invented by global elites in the letters of Rome. Since the Grand Solar Minimum is now on progress, it has been changed to ‘climate change’. People will be freezing to death on the mini ice-age, few cultures have existed long enough to remember. Why is China buying food like it’s going out of style?

Climate change has been so solidly proven scientifically, that they had to remove signs from Glaciers they “proved” would melt, but never did. They have no clue what they’re talking about, so let’s get on already.

The real enemy of coal mining in the U.S. are not the politicians or elites that speak out against it. Instead, it’s the economic use of natural gas to generate electricity. Wonder how this "world’s biggest mine: Inside US coal" is doing now. Nobody seems to know!

well seen the yanks are not taking global warming too seriously.

  18. Mike Ulm on January 5, 2022 at 9:00 am

Climate change has been happening b4 man. Our carbon footprint should be limited to a minimum but let’s focus on places like India Pakistan Russia China and those who don’t filter and manage their carbon. No we attack our own people who are already following EPA laws.

Climate change is going to happen regardless of coal mines.
The sun is getting bigger and hotter so the earth will eventually turn into a hot charcoal.
Wanna save nature? Uhmmm don’t have kids. Humans create pollution to the planet but like I said, humans or no humans, earth is not going to last forever.
Look at China, they pollute and populate more than any other country in the world, but not a single word is said 😶

    Man: "Stop the tape!"

They’ll never admit it, but coal is actually one of the cleanest sources of energy available. Also, far too valuable and useful to ever get rid of.

  30. Tau1s on January 5, 2022 at 9:16 am

here i com to see some cool machines not some old had speak about how coal is bad and so on (also if they wherent mining it it someone else would)

  32. ICE STATION ZEBRA ASSOCIATES on January 5, 2022 at 9:20 am

When the tough questions get asked, turn off the camera 🤣🤣 coal is only one problem that causes pollution. You could stop coal use tomorrow and the effect stopping coal use and mining would be very negligible.

  33. Bull Miller on January 5, 2022 at 9:22 am

How exactly does 2000 lbs of coal produce 3700 lbs of emissions?

  34. Brad Loewen on January 5, 2022 at 9:23 am

Our coal consumption has little to no effect on climate change. Developing countries are the real main sources of pollution

  35. Joshua 1212 on January 5, 2022 at 9:24 am

THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO SEE THE MINE NOT A CLIMATE CHANGE REPORT?! ANYWAYS WE DON’T NEED FOSSIL FUELS, GAS ,OIL ,COAL, YES WE MAY NEED COAL TO MAKE STEEL BUT WE DON’T NEED IT IN OUR POWER PLANTS WE CAN DESIGN EVERYTHING TO RUN ON HHO TWO PARTS HYDROGEN ONE PART OXYGEN IT’S SO EASY TO SPLIT THE ATOMS TO MAKE HYDROGEN OR OXYGEN AND IT’S ALL MADE WITH JUST WATER YOU CAN DO IT AT HOME WITH COMMON HOUSEHOLD ITEMS CHECK OUT THE STAN MEYER VIDEO HE WAS MURDERED BECAUSE HE MADE A CAR THAT RUNS ON WATER

  36. G R on January 5, 2022 at 9:24 am

Just 1 ton of this coal produces 3700lbs or carbon dyoxide???

  46. Kurt Pochert on January 5, 2022 at 9:37 am

When Mt. St. Hellen erupted it negated any reduction of CO2 produced by man. Volcanos, earthquakes, and the Sun itself are by far the greatest contributors to Climate Change. There were glaciers over Michigan 10,000 yr ago and Man had nothing to do with their retreat. Yes, responsible use of our Earth’s resources is in order, but major contributors by Man toward climate change is not based on any sound science.
