Exploring Colorado’s abandoned “Dauntless” Mine
The Dauntless Mine above Leavik, CO. is situated at roughly 12,100 ft high in the Mosquito Range of the Rocky Mountains. It’s the first abandoned mine as you ascend to attempt to summit Mt. Sherman, or on your way to the Hilltop Mine.
Cool place for an adventure, too bad you could not enter into any tunnels though, would have loved to see that 🙂
Awesome mine. Went there in the summer of 2020 while climbing Mt. Sherman. The entrance was completely covered in snow, and hiking up its hard to miss the mine shaft as the trail goes right over the entrance. There was some pretty cool tailings left over on the righthand side of the tracks, loads of ore with galena and quartz. Thanks for sharing.
Such a cool place the effort really pays off once you are there 😂
