Do you know anywhere in socal I could find small garnets? My moms had a rough year and love garnets. Would love to give her one for Christmas that i had found myself. Just something to make her smile when she sees it.
Dawg, I’m mad jelly. I’ll be beyond lucky if I ever find a single spot like that. Is this the efforts of a lot of deep hiking, do you have claims passed down to you, etc? I’m trying to get more serious in my efforts, and some guidance from someone so clearly "in the know" would be nice.

Look like almandine garnets in degraded biotite mica schist. Used to find some in Vermont, but much smaller.

Just found some similar garnet clusters in the santa rosas near palm desert, nothing nearly this gemmy though, those are crazy! Some are similar size tho, biggest garnets ive seen
