Beautiful aquamarine crystals. The Beeyl Pit outside of Quadville Ontario has deep blue beryl, but no gemmy material.

I grew up in Chaffee county and I’ve always wanted to dig for aquamarines and smoky quartz on Antero but the only part that isn’t claimed is the hardest part to get to, on the far side of everyone else’s claims, and probably isn’t even all that productive. There’re like four places on Earth to find this stuff and most of them are on the other side of the planet.
Destroying the side of a mountain for some crappy ass gemstone. Take your loader and go home.

I just checked, aquamarine isn’t worth very much.
We rode our dirt bikes up on antero 60 years ago then the us gvt made this area a wilderness area how are these people allowed to mine up there
This is a really enjoyable show, but all the prices are so overinflated. Aquamarine is nowhere near as valueble, not even the higher grade stuff from Brazil. Basically take a 0 off every number you see here and we have realistic prices, there is no way that the bigger stone shown here is worth more than 2k, and that is already generous.

Why would you ever rent if you own a claim like that, hire a engineer or someone handyโฆ your just putting money in some one elseโs pocket
For the money you get from this you will eat american hamburgers for 20 years, the mountain that stood untouched for millions of years will be destroyed forever.

I saw some of these gems on a video from the Tucson (I think) gem show and the guy said it was from Mt Antero, which rung a bell. I live in leadville. I got on Google earth and was like, "oh right, down near BV." I checked around some more on Google earth and could see the road up to about 13000 ft and just realized that’s probably your claim I was looking at. Well, so much for my plan to drive up that road. My truck could make it, but I’m not about trespassing. Is your shop down in BV or nearby? I’d definitely be down to check it out this summer on one of my motorcycle rides.
