As an ex-land surveyor, I’ve seen and worked off of A LOT of those USGS monuments… oh yeah, those are called concrete monuments, there is a series of those from the Maine/ Canada border all the way to the Texas/ Mexico border, they mark, or indicate the mean high water line along the coast… not sure why they’d put one on a mountain, other than visibility… thanks for another great one, keep it up and go enjoy some nature today…!
