Drone Into Historic United Verde Copper Mine in Jerome Arizona

The historic United Verde copper mine in Jerome, Arizona was one of the industries that helped build the West. Amazing history, including the use of steam shovels purchased from the recently completed Panama Canal to support one of the first large-scale transitions from underground mining to open-pit mining. More details available at http://repository.azgs.az.gov/uri_gin/azgs/dlio/1194.

The open pit exposed a lot of the old underground workings that had been in progress since the Wild West days. The old pit walls make it dangerous, illegal, and very unwise to access on foot, but a drone (flown per FAA rules, of course) provides great views into this amazing historical site.

Great video and music. Reading Charles A. Siringo’s book, "A Cowboy Detective" and he mentions this mine. Thanks for sharing.
