The Infamous Toxic Ghost Town in Colorado | ABANDONED
The Infamous Toxic Ghost Town in Colorado | ABANDONED

In this small series I am in Colorado with Edwin and visit abandoned mine related facilities.
I visit the infamous ghost town Gilman, which closed in 1984 by the order of the Enviromental Protection Agency because of toxic pollutants. Since then it’s a forbidden ghost town.

Hi, Al. This video is about an abandoned me in Colorado USA Please show it to people who will like it. Thank you.

I remember the last train I saw on that line was in 1996. It was an autorack. But that was also on a summer vacation. According to some reports, that rail line, the Tennessee Pass Line, may be reactivated as soon as 2025.
If you still have those "Nuggets" the best way to test to see if they are gold, is to take a hammer and try to flatten them out, if they grumble, they are not gold.
Cant be that toxic if you guys are walking around in shorts and tshirts without eye protection or some sort of respirators lol
I heard that’s was a car accident from up top and that it landed down
22:26 that’s iron pyrite. fools gold.
That looks like pyrite in your hand.
USA is so nice. everything is there.
Thank you for your brilliant video. First time viewer and big fan of Western mining history. Looking forward to future adventures, thank you and be safe. Maybe wear helmets?
(at 1:58)
ive seen this mining ghost town before during summer vacation, also a few years ago when i went camping with my brothers and parent, i have always wanted to visit this place, i heard it went abandoned because of toxic things in the ground
everyone had to leave their things behind because of it
Well if there ever is a reason we need "metal" like in the early 1940’s, we know where to get all that metal š The abandoned mines in both US and Canada with all the abandon equipment melted down would equal so much. Crazy to think of.
Ya Iām here to pump you up. Hasta la vista, baby
Cool place to explore, looking at all the machineries thinking about it operating.
Buen trabajo chavalones
Lads, be careful. At 13:51 you walked through a whole pile of asbestos that fell out of the insulation on those steam pipes. That’s what all that white stuff on the ground and the pipes was. And for anybody watching, these old abandoned buildings are super cool, but remember that going in might actually be bad for your health and that it was abandoned for a reason. I’m not saying nobody ever should, just know what you’re getting into and how to protect yourself.
Probably thousands in scrap metal there.
Great Bob, keep on exploringš¤
Graffiti is pure ugly!
That was intense. Wicked video
Yo. Bob and PIC (partner in crime:)
Yes it’s better you have met up again. I don’t know how good it is for a person to spend as much time a person does watching good exploring instead of doing it. Bob you do it to the maximums. It’s Ok.
Looking toward to Hungarian episodes. From Craig. UK.
Oh guys…at around 10:00, all that broken corrugated siding you stepped on looks like it might be cement asbestos. That stuff releases asbestos fibers when broken up like that…you really don’t want to be breathing that in. Y’all might want to wear an N95 or P100 half-mask respirator to protect yourselves when you’re exploring these deteriorating old buildings. Be safe out there!!
Anyone friendship with me
I went to Colorado Mountain College in Leadville in 1968-69, and worked night shift as a miner at the Eagle Mine (Gilman). Never had much time to sleep or study, so I quit college and the mine and went to Vietnam.
Good GRAVY you guys, an ad every THREE MINUTES??? come on…
I would like to pack in and camp and fish.
All those stainless steel bolts are not cheap to buy and those are as good as ever.
I worked for a company that would clear the storm and water lines after every season. We had access to the valley right next to the tracks. The old timer giving us the rundown told us that the kids in Leadville had a game to see who could send a car the furthest down the hill. They would buy old cars to launch them over the cliffs. Itās a drive very much worth taking, I was blessed to be on the bottom side, even though I was working, I stood and took a piss off of an old bridge the train would use, (into the river, sorry) Itās such a trip imagining how a train was roaring by at one point. I find myself riddled with anxiety. History really helps me, because it canāt change, I was blessed to talk to an old timer about this part of history. Absolutely Blessed
This place is off limits to the public.. How’d you get in? Illegally? On video? Lol Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.
What’s the drone your using great resolution crystal clear looks like 4k it’s that nice
All of Colorado is toxic! Including the people!
This tour reminded me of so many video game maps from the 2000’s… Did this not strike anyone else’s mind?
you should have brought metal detectors maybe you would have found some gold
Drove through there 6-1-22 this summer. Signs everywhere no trespassing, danger, no parking anywhere along all roads. Lots of new fences everywhere alongside the road. You guys must have had to walk 15 miles or more to park somewhere. š¤
i live in garfield county in colorado, and even just by driving around with my parents or grandma(i cant drive lol) i have gotten amazing pictures that show the beauty of colorado
In 1980 Jimmy Carter shut down all mining.
I grew up there for a while as a child My stepfather worked in the mine his parents worked in the mine I went to a one-room schoolhouse there as a child we would walk down to the river and across the tracks to the other side and walk up the mountain to the most beautiful ponds you ever saw.
so scary! thanks for sharing your adventure!
I’m 73 and can only imagine how much more beautiful Heaven will be I think Colorado is just a glimpse of God’s beauty. WOW!
3:20 the railroad tracks were abandoned in 1997, immediately after a derailment and spill of sulfuric acid across the highway
I had a friend get nailed with it on his way to work that morning, ruined his car
Eric Howard Silverstein held auctions selling stolen human embryos attended by elders of Mormon church and many high ranking Colorado officials including Jared polis
They cleaned out the tranformers. The oil inside contained PCB’s. Cancer causing. If someone could just salvage the scrap metal they could make a good living.
Well done, you guys gave a good feel what it’d be like exploring it yourself!
However, did you see any wildlife AT ALL? At least there’s none I saw in the video whatsoever. Not even a spider, bird or insect? This is a major red flag it could be very unsafe to visit. As a fly fisherman I’d be very curious what’s in that stream though! I imagine there are fish in it at least.
Pretty incredible. Your lucky no bears mountain lions or wolves. Place is home to them. No hobos either. Wow those stairs
Hi Bob
Not the smartest thing to do, poking around old mines and buildings. Tons of people have been killed in Colorado doing so. Cool to check out old sights and explore, dumb to take risks in places no one can find you. In the 1980s the Colorado School of Mines and the state of Colorado sealed more than 350 abandoned mines..miles… to protect dummies

You said the mine shaft full of equipment, was in another video you’ve posted. Can you give me that link? Thank you
Should add Victor Colorado to your list.. while not a ghost town as there is actually a still producing gold mine there .. there are many remnants of old mines as well.. also seeing a gold mine in action is pretty neat too
ya .. vidoe quite enjoyable an entertaining to tell us of our history.. thank you muchly.. helena will find the continued part.. must watch it to the end.. hehe.. to see how you will enjoy the microwave food at such a time of day.. from starbucks.. wow.. not even a mcdonalds is open.. shame on them huh.. hehe x
Just so you guys know the E P A polluted the river .They were sued and had to clean up the mess they made It cost them big time in fine’s and legal fees look it up they were the one ‘s the turned the river yellow .
Tweakers definitely haven’t found that place yet all the scrap copper still there
