Finding Gold at a Historic Mine, How Much Did They Leave Behind?

Finding Gold at a Historic Mine, How Much Did They Leave Behind?

We follow two modern day prospectors Jerry and Mike on an adventure into a forgotten canyon, rich in history and gold. It is quite a trek just to reach this place, and the journey in tells many tales of hard lives lost, hard work put in, along with forgotten workings and relics of a golden era. It’s obvious there is was good gold here, how much is left is what we came they to find out..

That "Tiny gravestone" at 2:30 is a foot stone and is common in pioneer cemeteries. When you encounter a large pillar type headstone with inscriptions of dead on all four sides of the interred-they are usually layed out with the graves singly away from each side and the head of the interred close to the pillar and the feet away from it and some have the foot stones left intact like the one in the video.

Gentlemen, I’ma new subscriber, but have roamed the Sierras, and have friends that live in Gold Rush country in Angel’s Camp, Sonora, and Murphy’s. Fascinated by the history, and the toughness of the prospectors. Love seeing what you guys pull out of the nooks and crannies…BTW: Slumerican said that was an owl feather. Either that or may have been a juvenile hawk tail feather. They are banded when they’re young, but I may be wrong. Go and get that Shiny!

The feather is from a larger size of woodpecker, like a redheaded variegated woodpecker or a hawk’s belly feathers. I think.
