Speaking as a prior Army man, the shovel is called an "entrenching tool". The newer style folds up into a plastic pouch the size of the shovel blade.
Next time take chalk… that might help…

A buffalo nickel is the same size as a regular nickel. All those coins were probably silver or gold. Maybe copper and brass/Bronze.

I reckon it looks like a bunch of stuff associated with a murder.
