Some great finds there. They really cleaned up nicely!
Nice supply list!
Is there somewhere nearby where the granite contacts the sandstone? In the vicinity of the veins? Around here those contacts are very productive for amethyst. Honestly, it seems like the area you’re in might yield better fluorite specimens if you can find some vugs and get into cubes. I read a few of the comments and saw that you’d gone back and found more, I look forward to seeing it! I love seeing what others find for amethyst! Cheers!
Country Jam…Grand J….Oh the memories, but the Fossil hunting almost everywhere under the Grand Mesa was EPIC….heck the rocks around one of the golf courses we shot where awesome. Plus i found close to 100 balls that day. People dont go after missed hits….snakes of the rattley kind were present.
Cool man. Missing one critical tool – chopsticks
That first one fluorite with Quartz😍😍 beautiful.
I been in that area if your going back soon let me know I have some better spots
This video is awesome!!…I’m making my critical tool list as we speak,.. definitely an area I want to investigate. Important question tho,..being from Michigan, will I get altitude sickness?..kinda important…lemme know
I’ve actually been over to the mine (I know this is way late) but I was about a year ago, sadly both mines had to be caved in but it exposed the upper portion of the amethyst vein, which has that green fluorite on top, it was fun to pull some pieces form the source
Terrible samples my friend, keep it up !!
This is the wild beauty of nature !!
Congratulations !!
Wow! That certainly was an epic adventure…but you found some simply awesome finds. Love the amethyst crystals on the flourite! Both my favourites. Stay cool🙃👍🦘
Dont know if you guys went back to that location ever, but if you go up the canyon till you come to the washed out hill and the large mined out area there are lots of crystals in the dirt.
Man… will have to look into grand junction next time i go!
Ok! You got me! What kind of banded snake was that? The first one looked like a rattler? But that banded one has me puzzled?
Other wise – wish I was there, rock hunting with you!
I live in junction. Check out “opal hill” in fruita.
Cool finds!!! Love finding mineral combos.
Where is this location? Would like to take a ride there
Nice finds the sound was hard to hear.
Does that creek have a season when it runs? Thats when I would go to that place, the scenery would be great with a bit of water. I am also surprised there is still colour in that float flourite, the sun bleaches it out with exposure. Did you check its glow under UV?
